I'm proud to work with Canalway in an effort to bring impactful, authentic programs to the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area.  

Canalway is a Cleveland-based non-profit who works to connect people to place through history and recreation events and preservation advocacy. Events including Cleveland History Days, RiverSweep, Cuyahoga River Rally, the Towpath Trilogy and more that make Cleveland a cooler, more interesting place to live and visit.

Free community Programming
Connecting to the Cuyahoga River & Towpath Trail
Canalway brings people to Cleveland’s important places with free community events that offer unique ways to learn and engage with history, including the Towpath Trail Lantern Parade, RiverSweep, Cuyahoga River Rally, and Cleveland History Days.

Trail Activation
Educating New Trail Users
With millions of community dollars invested in the creation of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and connector trails, Canalway creates opportunities for people to learn about and explore these valuable trails through running races and community bike rides.

Historic Advocacy & Preservation
Prioritizing Stories of the Past
We preserve the National Heritage Area’s history by telling the stories of historic places. We are currently focused on the development of Canal Basin Park. In collaboration with the City of Cleveland and partners, we are working to ensure the future of this park pays homage to its historic impact and importance.
