For 40 years, Canalway has a proven history of collaborating with governments and community partners to ensure transformative projects like the Towpath Trail are realized and utilized. With your support, Canalway can reach a fundraising goal of $15,000 during the Rocket Community Challenge.

Connecting to Community to the Cuyahoga River & Towpath Trail

Canalway brings people to Cleveland’s important places with free community events that offer unique ways to learn and engage with history, including the Towpath Trail Lantern Parade, RiverSweep, Cuyahoga River Rally, and Cleveland History Days.

Educating All Trail Users

With millions of community dollars invested in the creation of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and connector trails, Canalway creates opportunities for people to learn about and explore these valuable trails through running races and community bike rides.

Prioritizing Local Stories

We preserve the National Heritage Area’s history by telling the stories of historic places. We are currently focused on the development of Canal Basin Park. In collaboration with the City of Cleveland and partners, we are working to ensure the future of this park pays homage to its historic impact and importance.
