Mobile Unit for Housing Insecure Youth

I'm raising funds to support Detroit Phoenix Center's new mobile unit!

I've been on the board of directors for Detroit Phoenix Center for over two years, and I'm so proud of this organization. Detroit Phoenix Center provides critical resources, wraparound support, and a safe, nurturing environment to housing insecure youth. We partner with young people to break the generational cycle of homelessness and poverty. We help with transitional housing, mental health support, hygiene needs, educational support, and offer drop-in centers for mentorship support.

The YouthUP Mobile Center is a 40-foot outreach vehicle designed to bring vital resources directly to youth across Detroit. Sometimes, youth that need our services can't get to to us - this gives us the ability to go where they are. Inside, we have a fully equipped kitchen for meal prep, a private shower to promote hygiene, a recreation area with gaming consoles, a counseling space for one-on-one support, and free access to Wi-Fi and laptops to support education and job readiness. 

The mobile center is stocked with hygiene kits, mental health kits, clothing, food, and wellness resources, all tailored to meet the immediate and long-term needs of youth ages 12–24.
