Your support comes at a meaningful time as TANHM continues to preserve and share the extraordinary legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen—many of whom proudly called Detroit home. What began in 1987 as monthly gatherings led by the original Tuskegee Airmen has grown into a nationally significant museum and Flight Academy dedicated to honoring their courage, service, and lasting contributions to aviation and American history.

Because of supporters like you, we can:

  • Preserve priceless artifacts, oral histories, and historic aircraft.
  • Inspire young minds through our AeroKidz, STEM Innovation, Drone, Aircraft Maintenance, Ground School, and Flight Academy programs.
  • Provide immersive museum experiences and hands-on aviation education for students, educators, veterans, families, and visitors from across Southeast Michigan and beyond.
  • Prepare the next generation for careers in aviation, aerospace, and STEM.



The Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum continues to preserve the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen while inspiring future generations through aviation, STEM education, leadership, and community engagement. Throughout the year, the museum expanded educational programming, strengthened community partnerships, and advanced plans for the future aviation and STEM hangar project.
