A Note from Amy Brown
I am thrilled to be celebrating a special milestone – 20 incredible years at Noah at Central! When I arrived in Detroit in August 2004, I intended to stay for just two years for a volunteer commitment. It didn’t take long to fall in love with the mission of Noah, this city, and amazing people who have become my extended family. My journey with Noah has been filled with growth, building of community, resiliency, and countless memories
It’s a gift to reflect on the tremendous growth of our organization over the past 20 years! We have grown from a staff of 3.5 to a team of 14! We’ve developed a twice weekly bag lunch services into a community center, now open 26 hours a week, offering vital services each day. Our street outreach team has expanded from a single staff into a team of 4, delivering essential supplies while connecting individuals to housing navigation. I can’t wait to see how we continue to grow and expand our community in the next 20 years.
Some fun facts about the past 20 years:
- I have had 5 different offices and 5 different titles during my 20 years
- In the 20 years I have been at Noah, we estimate I have walked over 300 marathons throughout Central and our space (that's a lot of steps, friends!)
- We have served bag lunch for 2,848 days during my 20 years!
The heart of this work is meeting our clients where they are and journeying alongside them. But this work could not be done without a community. Thank you for being part of that community - through friendship, donations or giving of your time.
As we are competing to raise funds, I would encourage you to give in a way that honors our relationship – maybe how many years we have known each other, maybe $20 for each office I have had, or maybe a nickel for each bag lunch I have served ($142.40). Regardless of the amount, thank you for supporting the work of Noah – we would not be here without you!
