Mittens for Detroit is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that collects, purchases and distributes new mittens and gloves to children, teens, and adults in need in Detroit, Michigan, and other nearby underserved cities. Since its start in 2010, more than one-quarter million pairs have been collected and distributed. More than 100 Community Collection Partners host public and private efforts that bring in about 32,000 pairs a year. Our Distribution Partners get pairs on hands at nearly 100 schools, shelters, homeless programs, veterans' group, senior centers, medical facilities, and other programs that serve those in need. We are excited to announce that we are adding the 4,200 students in the Pontiac School District this year to our Distribution Partners!

This is an excellent example of the community coming together to provide warmth for those would otherwise be braving the cold winter with cold hands. The Rock FOC have always been so kind and generous to Mittens for Detroit. Perhaps you have donated before, maybe you have volunteered in The Big Sort. Perhaps you helped us get the word out in another way. You are amazing, and we are grateful!

Your donation today will help fund the tens of thousands of pairs that will warm the hearts and hands of those in need this winter.

Our volunteer opportunity - The Big Sort - is back this year! It brings several hundred people to our office to count, sort, and pack up these pairs for pick up by the Distribution Partners. Every year we have members of the Rock FOC lending a hand. Being located in the basement of the First National Building, this is a convenient, easy and fun place to volunteer!

This is our 5th Community Challenge and our 12th Winter, and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to ask you to lend a hand in the Challenge!
