About Life Directions

Life Directions is a not-for-profit community-based organization founded in 1973. Our vision is for peers from 13 to 35 years of age who are rooted in positive values to inspire their peers who are struggling. We work in Public Schools and surrounding neighborhoods. Addressing trauma and Social Emotional Learning has been our hallmark since our beginnings.

We work with groups in the school and with families in the neighborhood. We reinvented our work to be as virtual as needed. Our impact is seen with increased graduation, moving forward into college or a career. What is less are self-defeating choices that end in prison or death. We worked with over 450 youth, young adults and adults during the pandemic.

Our ultimate goal is for youth and young adults to mature into responsible, productive adults through self-direction.
