Fighting covid 19 for our youth and families
Detroit Magic Child's project will be to continue providing after school programs for youth ages 6 - 17. Concentrating on improving their academic skills, focusing on stem related subjects in ( math and science ) as well as reading, testing and study habits.To help prepare them for higher education. To continue our work alternative program for youth ages 14 - 17 and adults. Teaching them life and trade skills in preparation for career opportunities. Bringing in mentors and professional trainers to teach our participants the necessary skills to prepare and position them for internship and employment. The issues that our program will address in our tutoring sessions with our youth is reading comprehension and literacy, testing skills and applying their efforts toward good and consistent study habits.The challenges with our work alternative program will be preparing them for career exploratory opportunities. Teaching our participants life skills ( skilled trades, preparing resumes, communicative skills, relationship building and economic development. Detroit Magic Child's key objective is to train and prepare our participants for employment. To connect them with opportunities that will provide jobs building economic stability for themselves, families, homes and the community. To continue elevating the academic level of our youth toward higher education. Preparing the youth to become future leaders and productive citizens. Our participants are between the ages of 6 - 17 and adults from low income families that have little or no opportunities for job readiness or training for skilled trades. 95 % of our participants are African Americans. Expected Outcomes: Our expected outcome is to continue providing educational programs to enhance the continued growth of our youth. Our after school tutoring sessions allowed the youth to have a 20 % increase in their level of reading and comprehending, testing skills resulting from the improvement in their study habits.
