Bridgepointe has been a partner with several Detroit Public Schools located in southwest Detroit for 25 years with focuses at Academy of the Americas (PreK thru 12th grade) and Neinas Dual Language Learning Academy (PreK thru 8th grade). Programs at Bridgepointe partner schools are designed to provide educational and social support to children at all grade levels.
Social Support
Bridgepointe's mission for social support includes several initiatives:
- El Armario ("The Uniform Closet") provides clothing and hygiene essentials for Neinas students
- La Alacena ("The Cupboard") is a supplemental pantry for specific Academy of the Americas families experiencing food stress
- Dinners for first grade after tutoring
- Food drives this past year fed 100 families at both schools
Educational Support
Bridgepointe's educational support includes several programs at both schools:
- One-on-one tutoring for students needing academic support
- Book clubs to continue to improve students' reading abilities
- Book drives for classrooms and free little libraries outside the schools
- Lunch clubs for fun, educational activities
- Educational field trips
Fun with Bridgepointe
Another core element of Bridgepointe's mission is providing a space for the students to have fun. We run several fun events throughout the school year:
- Holiday parties with gifts for each child and some for entire families in need
- End of year field day to kick off summer
- Trips to the pool
