❤️How I Heart Dogs changed my life!❤️

As many of you know, the years leading up to Thanksgiving 2021 were some of the hardest of my life. In 2019, I lost my best friend, Carrie. In 2020, I said goodbye to my sweet dog, Sammi. Then, in 2021, I lost my mom. It felt I had nothing left.

Not long after my mom passed away, I made one of the first good decisions I'd made in a long time... I adopted Lucy from I Heart Dogs Rescue & Animal Haven. ❤️

Lucy gave me a reason to smile again. She reminded me that even after heartbreak, there was still room for love, healing, and hope.

Then Thanksgiving arrived, my first holiday without my mom.

I couldn't imagine spending the day alone in a quiet house. I needed somewhere to be. I needed something to do. More than anything, I needed a purpose.

So I signed up for a volunteer shift at I Heart Dogs.

I never imagined that one decision would change my life.

From that very first shift, I fell in love with the dogs, the mission, the volunteers, and the incredible people behind the rescue. What started as a way to get through one difficult holiday became a passion, a purpose, and a second family.

Over the past few years, I've watched I Heart Dogs Rescue & Animal Haven say "yes" to animals that had nowhere else to turn. Along the way, I've made lifelong friends, found a purpose I didn't know I was missing, and become part of something truly special.

This rescue means so much to me. Every day they rescue homeless animals, provide lifesaving medical care, and help them find the loving families they deserve. But they also do something many people don't know about...

Through an incredible partnership with Turning Point Macomb, I Heart Dogs provides temporary shelter for the pets of domestic violence survivors. Families escaping dangerous situations don't have to choose between their own safety and the pets they love. Knowing those animals are safe gives survivors the chance to begin again. ❤️

That's why I'm participating in the Rocket Community Challenge. 🚀
