Making 2026 Summer in The D Camp Bigger and Better

Meet Zakar Smith, one of the many shining examples of what happens when youth have early access to STEM education.

Zakar has been with Accelerate4KIDS throughout his time in high school, and has gained special knowledge from programs in coding, robotics, game design, and digital arts. Not only is Zakar a participant of our program, he is a leader. He continues to inspire the next generation of Detroit students to continue to dream big in science and technology while he enters his first year of college at Wayne State University in Detroit. 

Stories like Zakar's is why we do what we do. And we need your help to make sure more students can have the same opportunities. 

Winning the 2025 Rocket Companies Community Challenge will allow us to create a bigger and better 2026 Summer in The D STEM Camp, including extending them to full days, increasing available spots, and purchasing newer laptops/equipment for students to use. 

Our Summer in The D STEM Camp is a two-week, half-day camp that gives elementary and middle school students the opportunity to learn coding and game design --- all for just $10. But that's only possible because of the funds we raise throughout the year, especially during the annual Rocket Community Challenge.
