The Birthday Party Project - Rocket

The Birthday Party Project's mission is to bring JOY to children experiencing homelessness through the MAGIC of a birthday celebration!

What began in 2012 as a simple idea to celebrate children experiencing homelessness has grown into a national movement of JOY.

At The Birthday Party Project, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, known, and celebrated, especially during seasons of crisis and uncertainty. Our celebrations create more than magical moments. They offer children and families a chance to pause, breathe, laugh, and make new memories together.

Through monthly birthday parties and Birthday in a Bag distributions, we help:

Create moments of normalcy and JOY for children facing housing instability.

Support children who have experienced social and emotional trauma.

Strengthen family bonds through shared celebration and memory-making.

Offer a hopeful, JOY-filled approach to supporting families in difficult seasons.

Invite communities into a fun, meaningful, and accessible way to serve.

Increase the capacity of shelter and community partners who may not have the resources to host celebrations on their own.

Today, The Birthday Party Project partners with more than 65 shelters and transitional living facilities across the country. With the support of our Birthday Enthusiasts, we celebrate hundreds of children each month and remind them that they matter.

As we grow, we remain committed to creating celebrations that are joyful, thoughtful, sustainable, and deeply rooted in dignity. We are expanding our community, investing in the children and families we serve, and inviting others to join us in building a movement centered on young people, belonging, and the power of celebration.
