Our Vision

We envision a Mahoning Valley that is welcoming to all — a region where belonging is more than a feeling; it's a way of life. By setting the table for regional economic growth and community connection, we’re building a Valley that Thrives for generations to come

 What Thrive Mahoning Valley Does in the Community

• Pedal Forward – our transportation equity program provides refurbished bikes (with helmet, lock, lights, bell, safety training) to adults without access to reliable transit. We are also involved in community efforts to make Youngstown more bike-friendly!

• Multilingual Workforce Support – offering translation services and culturally-inclusive consulting to help employers welcome international employees

• Newcomers Network & Partnerships – convening coalitions like the Newcomers Network, Sounding Board forums, and community bike events to foster collaboration 

• Cultural Engagement – hosting events like Welcoming Week to celebrate diversity and inspire unity

• Food Access Initiatives – launching the Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market in Fall 2025 to increase access to fresh, local produce and support regional growers while addressing food insecurity in the heart of the city

• Housing & Legal Resources – connecting newcomers with transitional housing, referrals, and soon, partial DOJ accreditation to offer legal support
