Feeding Detroit. Rebuilding Lives. Restoring Hope.

The Capuchin Soup Kitchen has been a pillar of compassion in Detroit since 1929—welcoming all who are hungry, hurting, or in need of a fresh start. With your help, we provide more than a meal. We offer dignity, community, and real pathways forward.

In 2024 alone, your generosity helped us meet a rising tide of need:

  • 236,787 meals served at our Conner and Meldrum kitchens—up 20% from 2023. That’s nearly 1,000 meals a day, plus deliveries to community partners.

  • Over 3.3 million pounds of food distributed through our Capuchin Services Center—providing 13,500+ pounds of groceries every day to Detroit families.

  • 6,000+ pounds of fresh produce grown at Earthworks Urban Farm to nourish guests at our meal sites.

  • 20,000+ hours of academic, social, and emotional support provided to children in our Rosa Parks Youth Program.

  • A long-term, life-changing impact on nearly 1,000 men who have participated in our ROPE Program and Jefferson House over the years—rebuilding lives after addiction, incarceration, and homelessness through structure, job training, and community.

Every service we offer is free of charge—and made possible by people like you.

We serve those on the margins: families living paycheck to paycheck, seniors aging alone, children facing poverty, individuals recovering from trauma or substance use, and men seeking stability after incarceration. No matter the story, every person who walks through our doors is treated with dignity and love.

Across all our programs, we’re investing more than $190,000 each month in food costs alone—and the need is only growing.

💛 Your support today helps feed a neighbor tomorrow. Join us in building a more just and compassionate Detroit—one meal, one person, one act of kindness at a time.
