 The Village Home Project

Higher Ground Abodes is calling on its network - family, friends, schools, business owners. banks, faith-based organizations, businesses, neighbors, and future residents - to help us raise Dollars, Deedsand Goods to complete the renovation of our 97-year old 1848 sq ft into a home for youth transitioning out of foster care. It is YOU, our "Village Keepers" from Monument Colorado, to Franklin, Tennessee, to Metro Detroit who are helping us transform this old beauty into a modern home for former fosters to live like family! Together, we will do it.

Young people transitioning out of foster care frequently encounter life-altering difficulties, including homelessness, unplanned pregnancies, forced sexual encounters, and unemployment. As Village Keepers, our collective efforts can provide the stability, support, and sense of belonging these young people need to become self-sufficient adults. Beyond addressing their immediate housing needs, our model also equips them with tools to build a successful future. Your investment—whether monetary or non-monetary—benefits us all: youth gain a more promising future, and society gains another contributing member.

Home Structure

As Resident-members, the young adults gain:

  • Private bedrooms in a shared house, putting rental cost within their financial reach.

  • Real-world experience learning to budget, build credit, and invest for the future.

  • Monetary incentives for complying with lease terms.

  • Supportive and sustainable housing while working toward self-sufficiency.

By equipping former foster youth with the tools to manage life, we help them avoid becoming part of the 50% of former foster youth who experience a lifetime of government reliance.

Join our Village Home Project, whether with the donation of Dollars, Deeds, or Goods for our home renovation, and become a Village Keeper today!
