Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1987 and has helped over 350 partner families, including more than 750 children. We have provided families who earn low to moderate incomes with safe and affordable places to live in over 20 different Cleveland neighborhoods and added Lorain County to our service area in 2022. The past decade has brought exponential growth; in 2015, Habitat sold 6 houses; in 2025, we sold 25 houses.

Our Programs:

• Affordable Homeownership Program: Homebuyers earning low to moderate incomes receive training and partnership while they prepare to buy a stick-built, rehabbed, modular, or panelized house.
• Homeownership Success Program: HUD-certified counselors and Habitat staff help homeowners develop the skills they need to thrive in their new homes in the long-term.
• Rock the Block Days: Volunteers offer minor exterior repairs in Habitat neighborhoods, including porch and fence repair, landscaping, and debris removal.
• Critical Home Repair Program: Homeowners in Habitat neighborhoods earning 80% or less of the area median income (AMI) receive extensive interior and exterior work to alleviate health, safety, structural integrity issues or code violations.
• Building Great Futures: Local high schoolers participate in a paid summer work program to learn about construction job opportunities, build skills and help families realize their dream of homeownership.

Greater Cleveland Habitat is using an innovative approach to increase its homeownership program, modular homes. These homes are built off-site and trucked to the construction site and are ready in half the time of a stick built house. Watch this amazing process.
