Give Merit

Give Merit exists to enhance and extend educational opportunities to Detroit youth through innovative educational, mentorship, and athletic activities. Founded in 2011, the FATE HS program began in 2012, and in 2020, we launched our official FATE Alumni Program. Students are involved via a cohort starting in the 9th grade and continuing through their hopeful college graduation (10 years). One hundred percent of our students have graduated high school and received college acceptance and we've awarded over $320,000 in postsecondary scholarships. 

It has always been our hope to replicate the work we're doing as we continue to see the impact it is having on Detroit youth. About 7 years ago, we started work on Merit Park -- a project that would take everything we've learned about youth development and high quality out-of-school-time programming and bring it to a Detroit neighborhood that's been neglected for far too long (Grand River & Livernois). Following a successful groundbreaking ceremony in May, we will be beginning construction in the coming month to complete this project by Fall 2025.
