Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit

As the oldest furniture bank in North America, we have helped 80,000 low-income families and children transition from homelessness, domestic violence, fire and flood. We have also aided veterans and seniors giving them stability and dignity by providing essential furniture and mattresses. One of our key initiatives to provide a bed for every head. It's estimated that 2-3% of children in America under the age of 18 are currently sleeping either with a family member, on a sofa or a cold hard floor. In Metro Detroit that's 20,000 children. For 150 dollars, the Furniture Bank is able to purchase a brand-new twin bed, foundation, pillow and bedding.   Through our donations we have also kept millions of pounds of waste out of our landfills.
