Friends of Foster Kids

Every child deserves to know they matter!  When the children are removed from their unsafe environments and placed into foster care, Child Protective Services reaches out to obtain any immediate needs...our Emergency Response Team springs into action. Our goal is not to simply meet their immediate needs but to change the trajectory of a foster child's life.  Through Friends of Foster Kids they learn someone is in their corner. With no family to call when the car breaks down, no one to buy your first set of dishes, prepare for a job interview or just simply say, I believe in you.  The need continues to grow and our mission is bigger than providing needs, it's about building futures.  Stepping in where there are gaps of needs providing foster children with the essentials, life skills, encouragement, mentors, scholarships, along with the practical support, opportunity and guidance they need to believe in themselves and build a successful future.  For the youth aging out of foster care we actually help them move forward.  Through our programs like Hats Off To Grads where we help graduating seniors transition into independent living or college.  We offer mentoring, life-skills training, financial literacy, job fairs, scholarships, transportation assistance, and our Youth Support Program so young adults have the tools they need to become self-sufficient.  We walk alongside foster youth from childhood into adulthood because success doesn't happen overnight. With your help young adults go from surviving to believing they can truly thrive.  We cannot do all of this alone.  Our Spirit of Christmas program is right around the corner, where we make wishes come true and build hope knowing they have not been forgotten.  Today, we need you to become part of our community of Angels who continue to make a difference.  Currently serving over 2,500 foster children every year from Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw counties of southeastern Michigan.
