Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit

Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit (FAMD) brings a little more love into the world by celebrating the special bond between a pet and their person. We don’t just rescue dogs and cats — we make life-changing connections with the people who adopt them.

In 2024 alone, we cared for nearly 2,500 animals with an 85% placement rate and the help of hundreds of volunteers and fosters who donated over 40,000 hours of time. Our shelter — a state-of-the-art, 19,500 square-foot facility — serves as a safe haven and a community hub for compassion.

We reach beyond our walls too, with free vaccine clinics, pet food assistance programs, and outreach events that help keep pets with the people who love them.
