Detroit Alley Cats is a grassroots nonprofit no-kill cat rescue organization in Detroit. We focus on serving the inner city neighborhoods, providing fostering and adoptions for kittens and displaced cats, trap-neuter-return for ferals, and aid for feral cat caretakers with supplies and volunteers.
Our primary goal is to offer a safe haven and a second chance for vulnerable cats. Through our fostering program, cats receive temporary homes where they receive the care and attention they need. We also facilitate adoptions to find permanent, loving homes for these feline companions.
To address the challenges faced by feral cat populations, we actively engage in trap-neuter-return programs. We humanely trap feral cats, provide them with veterinary care, and return them to their territory after spaying/neutering, ensuring their well-being and preventing further overpopulation. We also support feral cat caretakers by providing supplies and volunteers to help manage colonies and promote the welfare of these cats.
Detroit Alley Cats operates on the principles of compassion, education, and community involvement. We raise awareness about responsible cat ownership, spaying/neutering, and the benefits of adopting from shelters. Through outreach programs and community events, we aim to create a culture of empathy and understanding towards cats in need. Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of these remarkable creatures in the city of Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck.
