Our Mission:

For over 40 years, Austin Habitat for Humanity has provided safe and affordable homeownership opportunities for Central Texans. Since 1985, we’ve built over 600 homes and now aim to expand our impact with 75 new homes each year. As the largest provider of affordable homeownership in Central Texas, we are the trusted partner for homeowners, developers, lenders, and government entities seeking solutions to the region’s growing housing challenges.

The Challenge:

Central Texas is growing fast, and rising home prices are pricing out middle-income workers like teachers, nurses, and first responders. Nearly half of Austin renters are cost-burdened, and without affordable housing, essential community members face long commutes, financial stress, and the risk of leaving the area. Austin Habitat is creating scalable solutions to ensure these families can live and thrive in our community.

Closing the Gap:

 The rising cost of land, materials, and labor creates an $80,000–$100,000 funding gap for each home we build. House sponsors are essential to bridging this gap and making affordable homeownership possible.
