Little Elm Area Food Bank

The Little Elm Area Food Bank (LEAFB) is a non-profit that has served our community for over four decades. What began as one woman's act of generosity has grown into a light of hope for families.

The Food Bank provides food supplies to families daily. All neighbors are welcomed and served with a two-week supply of food, dog/cat food and bread as needed.

Each family will receive:

•Boxes of dried & canned goods

•Refrigerated goods

•Frozen goods

•"Goodie bags" when available

For the month of June, the Little Elm Area Food Bank served over 3,000 family members, with children being a large number.

Donations will go directly to purchasing food supplies for families. Last year the cost per family was $16.92.

All donations will enhance the reach of providing hope to our neighbors.

I started volunteering with the Food Bank last June on Monday evenings, a part of the Monday night crew. As part of the service to our neighbors, we volunteers will bring everything out to cars and load vehicles. The love extended to our neighbors through the Food Bank brings bright smiles and hope restored to families.

Volunteering with the Food Bank has been very exciting, inspirational and humbling. Meeting our various neighbors, hearing the many life experiences and connecting with each other has brought another level of awareness for me.

Growing up I would see my grandmother and mother provide food to those in need. This has always remained with me and share that passion now by helping neighbors.
