Shelter, Hope, New Life

Supporting In My Shoes is important to me because pregnancy should be a time of hope and joy, not fear and uncertainty.  It is difficult to imagine the challenges of preparing to bring a child into the world without a safe place to live.  

In My Shoes is especially meaningful to me and my family because we know a young mother and daughter who benefited from the support of the organization.  Seeing how the support, stability and compassion they received helped them rebuild their life demonstrates how impactful this organization is.  I have a much deeper appreciation for the importance of providing not only a safe place to live, but also encouragement, resources, and hope during one of the most vulnerable times in a woman's life.  We witnessed this young mother have not only shelter for herself and her newborn, but also access to many resources, life skills, and a supportive community that empowers women.  Even after this young lady moved into a home of her own, the In My Shoes community continue to keep in contact.  

I love this sentence from the In My Shoes mission statement.  "We walk alongside pregnant women experiencing homelessness and restore them to the life God created them to live."
