This is our mantra. It represents the transformational process the children we are so privileged to serve experience when they move from feeling helpless to building resiliency as they conquer their pain, stress and anxiety.   

When children are diagnosed and suffer from a life-altering illness, we know they often experience a variety of feelings, including a lack of control. This oftentimes equates to greater, more intense pain, beyond the physical pain experienced during and between medical treatments. In fact, research shows that the perception of vulnerability actually heightens the neurological perception of pain. Most children are not yet equipped with the tools needed to self-regulate their pain and emotions. Feelings of loneliness, being different and misunderstood oftentimes emerge, ultimately exacerbating negative emotions for the ill child.   

Through the application of our therapeutic martial arts method, we provide tools to teach resiliency and self-regulation so that the children we serve can better manage their response to pain, stress, fear and anxiety. Our method of therapies is designed to engage a child’s imagination while teaching them how to work through overwhelming emotions.
