Disability should never mean isolation.

Founded by educator and advocate Paul Mayfield, Friends with Abilities was born from lived experience. After losing his vision, Paul understood firsthand how physical disabilities can create barriers to community participation and meaningful relationships. Rather than accepting those barriers, he chose to build a community where people of all abilities could connect, grow, and thrive. Today, Friends with Abilities continues that vision by creating opportunities that promote health, independence, confidence, and belonging.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience friendship, wellness, adventure, and community—regardless of physical ability. Friends with Abilities empowers adults with physical disabilities to live healthier, more connected, and more independent lives through our Wellness Network, an innovative initiative that removes barriers to outdoor recreation, healthy living, leadership, and community participation. Together, we are creating a community where everyone belongs.
